–Kossuth Community and Culture Connections will host a unique presentation on Saturday that requires audience participation. Joseph Plum, better known as the American Bardic Poet, will be in Algona Saturday for a demonstration with roots in Celtic culture that date back nearly a thousand years. Jennifer Davis serves as Executive Director for the Community and Culture Connections organization.
Plum lives off the grid near Lovilla in Monroe, County and Davis says he works with those in attendance to complete the performance.
Plum recently received a $5,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant through the Iowa Arts Council.
If you would like to check out some of Plum’s work prior to Saturday’s event, Davis says he has a sub-stack collection titled “American Bardic Poet”.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 PM Saturday at the Community Connections Center, located at 315 S. Moore Street in Algona. Anyone seeking more information can find Community and Culture Connections on Facebook. Check out Plum’s work at www.americanbardicpoet.substack.com.
