–An Emmetsburg woman died and two others were injured when a semi failed to stop and collided with another vehicle 2 miles west of Algona Monday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 47-year-old Carolee Wise was eastbound on County Road B40 in a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox around 10:30 AM Monday. When Wise entered the intersection with 90th Avenue, she was struck broadside by a 2014 Peterbilt Semi, driven by 40-year-old Teddy Kutsch of Brule, Nebraska.
The accident report states that Kutsch failed to stop at the intersection before the collision occurred.
Wise was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kutsch and a passenger in the Wise vehicle, identified as 76-year-old Bernadette Wise of Emmetsburg, were taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona by Kossuth County EMS for treatment of injuries.
The accident, which closed B40 for over 5 hours on Monday, remains under investigation.
