–Early enrollment figures show a slight decrease in students for the Algona Community School District this year. Superintendent Joe Carter shared some preliminary figures with the school board during their meeting on Monday, as the official numbers for certification will be gathered for the first time on October 1st.

Carter says the number of full-time students is nearly identical when compared to last year.

The preliminary numbers do show a drop in the number of 4-year-old preschool students this year.

Certified enrollment figures are used to determine the amount of per-pupil funding the district will receive from the state in the next budgeting year.
