–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors will revisit their decision to award a contract for FEMA funded repairs in Drainage District #4 at their meeting on August 3rd. During their meeting Tuesday, the Supervisors heard from County Attorney Todd Holmes, who researched both state and federal guidelines with regards to awarding bids.

Leon Freeman consults on FEMA projects across Iowa and has been working with the board throughout the process. He told the board he spoke with Reutzel Excavating, the contractor that was awarded the bid earlier this month even though their bid for the option chosen by the board was not the lowest.

Freeman says the board is taking a risk with regards to the FEMA funding if they stick with the 2nd lowest bid.

The board approved placing the item on the agenda next week and could vote to rescind the award to Reutzel’s and give it to the low bidder, McCarty Inc. out of Primghar, Iowa.
