–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors rescinded a vote from last month that had awarded the contract for repairs in Drainage District Four to a local company during their meeting Tuesday. The Supervisors had awarded the contract to Reutzel Excavating of Burt by a vote of 3-2, despite the fact that they were the 2nd lowest bidder on the option selected by the board. Supervisor’s Kyle Stecker and Jack Plathe both initially voted to award the contract to the low bidder on the project, McCarty Inc. of Primghar

The board rescinded the previous vote and then awarded the contract to McCarty after consultants suggested the county could lose over a million dollars in FEMA funding for the project if they didn’t take the low bid on the project.
