School Board Looking at Facility Needs

–The Algona School Board discussed the current state of the district’s facilities and the need for future upgrades during their meeting Monday evening. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News the board recently had a company review the district’s facilities and point out where upgrades are needed most.

Carter says the idea of constructing a single building to house all of the district’s elementary students is something that is down the road a few years.

In the more immediate future, Carter says the district is in desperate need of more gym and workout space.

Now that the district has received feedback on their facilities, Carter says the next step is to get some preliminary designs.

Each of the district’s three elementary buildings were built back in the 1950’s. Carter says having a single elementary building in the district would eliminate the need for teachers to shuffle between buildings and help staff work more efficiently.
