Nominations Sought for Heritage Award

–Nominations are now being sought for the Heritage Award, that will be presented during the annual Algona Founder’s Day celebration. The Heritage Award committee is comprised of representatives from the Algona AAUW branch, the Founder’s Day committee, Lions Club, Morwen’s Kiwanis, Noon Kiwanis, Rotary and Soroptimist International, and they will review all the nominations before deciding on a recipient.

Nominees need to be a person, living or deceased, who has lived in Algona at some time. Nominations will be considered on the following criteria:

–Service to the local community

–Service to Kossuth County

–Service to the State of Iowa

–Service beyond the State of Iowa

–Offices held in local, county, state organizations and beyond

Nominations can be submitted to: Founder’s Day Committee, Algona Area Chamber of Commerce, 123 E. State Street, Algona, Iowa 50511. The deadline to submit a nomination is June 1st. The recipient will be recognized prior to the Voices from the Past event during Founder’s Day.

Last year’s recipient was Dale Teeter.
