–The Algona School Board set a public hearing date for a proposed fieldhouse project during their meeting Monday night. Superintendent Joe Carter addressed the board and discussed why a public hearing is necessary with this project.

If approved, the project would include the issuance of $20-million in School Infrastructure, Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue and Refunding Bonds. Carter explained what that total really represents.

The board also approved an Engagement Letter with Piper Sandler, and Carter says one of their representatives will join them at their July meeting to discuss the project in more detail.

The board discussed the district’s need for more gymnasium space earlier this year, and the need for more wrestling space, especially with the recent addition of Girls Wrestling. The public hearing will be held at 7 PM on Monday, July 10th as a part of the board’s monthly meeting.
