–The Algona School Board approved the issuance of up to $20-Million in sales tax bonds to fund a new fieldhouse project this week. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News the project is based on the needs of students and the lack of space currently available in the district.
Carter says the fieldhouse will drastically improve the district’s available space for multiples sports teams while adding academic space as well.
Bids for the project could be sent out as early as November, as Carter says construction could begin as early as spring of 2024.
The new fieldhouse will be constructed on the southeast side of the High School/Middle School building, where the old softball field is located. The project will not need any property tax dollars to be completed.
