–Iowa Lakes Community College will once again be offering a pair of courses this fall aimed at area residents who have some free time and want to keep learning in a no-pressure environment. Dr. Kelle Klinker-Simonin serves as a Facilitator for the 3rd Age Classes at Iowa Lakes, and she tells KLGA News they had to change their normal Tuesday-Thursday schedule this fall.

The “Democracy and Its Alternatives” Class will meet on Mondays, while the 2nd class is a film course entitled “Directed by Baz Luhrmann”. That class will focus on Luhrmann’s films, as participants will view and discuss his works. Simonin says they have a lot of fun with these courses.

Simonin says you can choose to participate in both classes, or just pick the one you’re more interested in attending.

The courses will be held on the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes. The Democracy and its Alternatives course will meet on Mondays from 9-11:30AM, beginning September 18th and ending on December 4th. The film course will meet on Wednesdays from 9:30-11AM beginning September 20th and ending on December 6th. Each lecture series will cost $25. To register for one or both classes, you can go online to www.iowalakes.edu/ce and search for course numbers 7090 (film class) and 7091 (democracy class). You can also call 1-800-252-5664.
