Algona Woman is August “1440”Award Winner

–An Algona woman who is known to volunteer her time for all sorts of activities has been named the “1440 Citizen of the Month” by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Roger Fisher announced this week that Shirley Gregg is the latest “1440” winner.

Shirley, along with her late husband, Leonard, have been instrumental in numerous activities within their church over the decades and were well known to volunteer their time to help others.

A former employee of Iowa State Bank in Algona from 1976 to 1999, Shirley served as the Executive Secretary for the bank President and the Board of Directors. The nomination letter recognized both Shirley and Leonard for their years of service, while saying Shirley has always been the type of person that will go out of her way to help others and volunteer with a positive attitude.
