–Several of the races from Tuesday’s City/School Board elections in Kossuth County needed write-in candidates to fill the number of seats up for election this year, and those results have now been tabulated.
The Kossuth County Auditor’s Office released those write-in results Thursday, concerning races in Bancroft, Ledyard, Lone Rock and Titonka.
In Bancroft, another candidate was needed to fill the 2nd open seat on the city council, and Jeremy Stover received 25 of the 46 write-in votes cast to win that seat. There was a scattering of 21 write-in votes, meaning those people received one or two votes, not enough to be listed in the results.
Ledyard needed to fill 3 seats on the city council with write-in candidates, and the top vote getters were Robert Gilbertson with 19, James Steenhard with 18, and Martha Simon with 8. There was a scattering of another 8 votes in Ledyard.
Lone Rock needed a write-in candidate for Mayor, and Letty Henricksen ended up receiving 24 votes to win the race. Gerald Thompson finished with 19 write-in votes, while there was a scattering of another 4 votes.
Titonka needed a write-in candidate to fill the 3rd open seat on the city council, and Irvin Harms received 26 of the 43 votes cast. Nick Harms received 13 votes, while there were another 4 votes scattered amongst others.
The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors will officially canvass the results of Tuesday’s election next week. Until that time, all results are considered unofficial.
