–If the recent cold temps and snowy weather has you thinking about camping season, you can now reserve your spot at a pair of local sites. Kossuth County Conservation Board Director Kendall Stumme tells KLGA News you can reserve a site for anytime between May 13th through September 9th.
You can reserve a campsite for a maximum of 14 days. Stumme says 2023 was the first season where they allowed spots to be reserved.
Stumme says they also offer a handful of sites on the north side of Smith Lake that are available for the entire camping season.
To reserve a spot at Smith Lake or Siems Park, you can go online to www.mycountyparks.com/County/Kossuth.aspx and select your site. For a seasonal spot, you can find the application form at www.watersedgenc.com or by contacting the Kossuth County Conservation office at 515-295-2138. The application deadline for a seasonal site is 4 PM on Monday, March 11th.
