–North Iowa Community Schools will host a meeting this evening in Buffalo Center for staff members and parents to discuss the possibility of switching to a 4-day school week. Superintendent Joe Erickson tells KLGA News that they want to know how those who would be impacted by the decision feel about the possibility before they pursue it fully.

Erickson says switching to a 4-day week would assist the district in recruiting new teachers to the area, as well as retaining the teachers they already have. The Cardinal School District in Southeast Iowa switched to a 4-day week last year.

Erickson says while nothing is set in stone, they do have an idea how a 4-day week could look for students and staff.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6PM inside the auditorium in Buffalo Center. There will also be a  public meeting on February 13th to discuss the issue a bit further, and the North Iowa School Board will host a public forum on the subject during their meeting on February 19th or 20th.
