–Bancroft Municipal Utilities is teaming up with the North Iowa Area Council of Governments (NIACOG) to seek a grant from the Iowa Grid Resilience Fund to finance upgrades to the city’s power supply. Bancroft City Clerk Crysti Neumann tells KLGA News they have highlighted a handful of improvements in their grant application.

Neumann says these improvements would help keep the lights in Bancroft year-round.

Neumann says they are teaming with NIACOG to help polish up their grant application.

BMU is seeking a $2 Million grant from the Iowa Grid Resiliency Fund, which would make them responsible for a local match of $666,800. The 1st phase of the grant application is due this week, with further deadlines coming down the road. The Iowa Grid Resilience Fund supports efforts to improve the all-hazards resilience of the state’s electric grid in an effort to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages. The fund is administered by the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
