–The Algona School Board approved the district’s calendar for the 2024-2025 school year during their meeting Monday night. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News that classes will be able to begin a couple of days earlier than they have in recent years.

Carter says one change for next year’s calendar is that Staff Development days will now be held on Monday’s instead of Wednesday’s, as they have in the past.

Carter says the calendar also includes a week off for students and staff in the middle of March.

The extra hours included in the calendar mean the district would not have to make any time missed during the winter months at the end of the year, as long as the minimum number of hours have still been met.
