–Work has begun on the new fieldhouse project at Algona High School that will feature an indoor track and provide more practice space for student athletes. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News the mild winter has made it possible to really get the work started as scheduled.
Carter says the original plans called for work to begin this spring so the timeline for the project remains mostly the same, however some parts of the new facility may be ready sooner than expected.
While providing much needed space for student activities, Carter says a nice benefit of the project is that it can be built without raising property taxes in the district.
The new facility will feature a 200M indoor track, six full-size basketball courts, along with a new wrestling room and weight room. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025. You can take the virtual right here.
