–The Algona School Board approved a contract earlier this week with Riley-Armstrong Plumbing and Heating out of Fort Dodge to complete the demolition of the former school building in LuVerne. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News the low bid came in just over $508,000.
Carter says there is some work that will have to be done before the main demolition of the building can occur.
Carter says work should be wrapped up later this summer.
Following the merger between Algona and the LuVerne School District, residents in LuVerne decided to have the building torn down as opposed to letting it stand and become delipidated over the years.
