–As clean-up efforts continue across the area following heavy rains and damaging winds this week, the City of Algona has announced they will continue to pick up debris through the middle of next week.
The city announced Wednesday that public works’ crews will collect downed tree limbs and branches through May 29th, even if the tree is on private property and not within the right-of-way.
Area residents are asked to collect all branches and set them within the right-of-way to be collected. The city is asking that the branches be placed parallel to the street, to make collection easier.
The city compost site is open for those wishing to get rid of their debris themselves, however part of the area is underway. Residents are advised to enter at their own risk, and taking a car to the compost site is not recommended.
Clean-up kits are available at city hall for those who had sewers back up into their basements, provided by Kossuth County Emergency Management. If you had items take on water damage and need to get rid of them, the city will also offer a clean-up day on May 28th, where a dumpster will be available from 7AM-7PM in the parking lot at Algona High School.
