–Quiz Bowl teams from Algona and Bishop Garrigan recently traveled to New Orleans to take part in the National Academic Competition, which was held over the Memorial Day weekend.
The competition featured a preliminary round of six matches, with top performers qualifying for playoffs that will be held later in June. The Bishop Garrigan team of Ben Greteman, Zach Warren, Sam Plathe and Brendan Plathe qualified for the playoffs by going 4-2.
Algona High was represented by Izaha Crawmer, Waverly Espe, Ace Studer and Chance Studer.
Competitors were able to explore the city, eat local and traditional foods, and take a tour of the nearby bayou in between rounds of competition.
The playoff rounds are scheduled to be held on June 16th, and will be conducted in an online format.
