Pocahontas Man Charged in Livestock Theft Case

–A Pocahontas man has been taken into custody on charges ranging from theft to tax evasion and money laundering, the result of an investigation that includes law enforcement agencies from eight different counties across NW Iowa.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Department, Deputies arrested 26-year-old Corey Edward Goeders of Pocahontas just after 6PM Friday on a valid Palo Alto County warrant. The initial investigation started in April of 2023, with the majority of the alleged incidents taking place between June 2023 and February of 2024.

Goeders is being charged with:

–Ongoing Criminal Conduct—Class B Felony

–Money Laundering—Class C Felony

–Tax Evasion—Class D Felony

–Seven counts of 1st Degree Theft—Class C Felony

–Nine counts of 2nd Degree Theft—Class D Felony

–One count of 4th Degree Theft—Serious Misdemeanor

Goeders was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail before posting bond and being given a court date.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted with the ongoing investigation by Sheriff’s Departments in Kossuth, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Clay, Pocahontas, Webster, and Woodbury counties, along with the Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Iowa Department of Revenue.
