–The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department is looking to replace a couple of deputies, as Sheriff Roger Fisher addressed the Board of Supervisors Tuesday and asked for permission to begin the hiring process.
Fisher says he spoke with Deputy Grimm about why he’s leaving the Department.
Fisher says the process to hire a new deputy takes anywhere from 45-60 days.
Fisher says if the Department pays to certify an officer, they would have to reimburse the county if they take another position before their contract expires.
Fisher told the board he hopes they can receive a good pool of applicants, but he is not certain that will happen with questions about the county’s budget hanging overhead.
