–Iowa Lakes Community College is being recognized as Military Spouse Friendly for its commitment to providing educational opportunities to area veterans and their family members. The “Gold” designation comes from Military Spouse Magazine and covers for the 2024-2025 school year. Tim Ireland serves as the Veteran’s Center Director at Iowa Lakes, and he tells KLGA News that they must submit information on the students they are assisting to receive this award.
Military members can use their educational benefits themselves or designate a family member to use them. Ireland says they work to make sure those veterans know all the benefits they are eligible to receive thanks to their service.
Iowa Lakes has a Veteran’s Center on their campuses in Estherville and Emmetsburg, and Ireland says staff members maintain regular contact with students receiving military benefits each semester.
