Pocahontas Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash Near Algona

–A Pocahontas man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle along US Highway 18 east of Algona Sunday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 42-year-old Adam Allen was traveling westbound along HWY 18 on a 2016 Harley Davidson Motorcycle around 1 PM Sunday. As Allen approached the intersection with 160th Avenue, about 3 miles east of Algona, he collided with a 2024 Nissan Sentra, driven by an unidentified 17-year-old from Ackley.

The accident report states that the Nissan failed to stop at the stop sign before pulling into the intersection. Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenage driver was taken by air ambulance to MercyOne Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, along with Algona Police and EMS.

The accident remains under investigation.
