–An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday morning for the new splash pad in Algona’s Central Park. City officials were joined by those who helped make the new park feature a reality, either with a financial contribution or by aiding in the design and construction process. Algona City Administrator Jacob Tjaden says the splash pad is the final piece of the total makeover at Central Park, which includes new sidewalks for better travel in and around the park.

Part of the renovation process included an upgrade to the shelter house at Central Park, something Tjaden says can get lost amongst the more exciting features.

The splash pad is open from 10AM-9PM as the weather will allow. Tjaden says one of its unique features will not be seen during the daytime.

Plans to renovate Central Park began back in 2021 and started with improvements to the baseball/softball field and the installation of a new skatepark.
