–A Northwest Iowa native has been named the next Executive Director for the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce. Avery Heikens has been selected to take over for Vicki Mallory, who is retiring at the end of the year. Shannon Goche is President of the Chamber Board of Directors, and she tells KLGA News Heikens will be a great addition to the area.
Goche says there was quite a bit of interest in filling this position.
Heikens is originally from Lake Park in Dickinson County, and Goche says she will begin work in Algona next month.
Along with the addition of Heikens, current Chamber Administrative Assistant Amy Whitacre will be promoted to a new role of Community Coordinator within the Chamber of Commerce, where she will continue to assist with a wide range of events, programs and activities.
