Pocahontas Man Cited Following 2-Vehicle Accident

–A Pocahontas man was cited following a 2-vehicle accident in rural Palo Alto County Friday afternoon.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of an accident at the intersection of County Road B63 and 535th Avenue, about 4 miles west of West Bend just after 4:15 PM Friday. The accident report states that 41-year-old Jason Allen Panbecker of Pocahontas was traveling southbound on 535th Avenue in a 2006 Chevrolet C2500.

Panbecker stopped at intersection with County Road B63, but failed to see a westbound 2013 Ford F150, driven by 70-year-old Michael David Dornsbach of Marathon and pulled out in front of the truck, causing a collision.

Panbecker was taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, while Dornsbach was treated at the scene and released. Panbecker was cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield the Right of Way, as well as Failure to Use/Maintain a Safety Belt.

Damage to Panbecker’s truck was estimated at $3,000, while the Dornsbach vehicle was deemed a total loss.
