–Anyone looking to get some time outdoors on Saturday is invited to a pop-up Monarch tagging event at Smith Lake. Kossuth County Naturalist Billie Willie tells KLGA News they will be meeting at the shelter house near the campground on the south side of the lake.
Monarchs are one of just a few insects that migrate, spending the winter months in warmer climates.
Willie says they will be tagging the butterflies from 3-5 PM on Saturday.
The event is completely free and open to the public. If you have any questions, contact the Water’s Edge Nature Center by calling 515-295-2138.
