–The man who eluded capture in rural Pocahontas County this summer that is still wanted on federal and state charges, evaded capture again over the weekend after being spotted in Humboldt County.

According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, a Deputy on patrol Saturday morning spotted 39-year-old Nathan Edward Nickless driving a 2002 GMC Envoy on US Highway 169. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but Nickless fled the scene and lead law enforcement on a chase through the city of Humboldt.

The pursuit ended towards the end of Taft Avenue South in Humboldt when Nickless exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Law Enforcement began a search of the area, which included the Humboldt County Sheriff’s K9 unit, but they were unable to locate the suspect. The K9 did recover a cell phone used by the suspect before the search was called off.

Law Enforcement did make an arrest in connection the incident, taking 38-year-old Patricia Daun Nikki Moreno into custody. She is being charged with Accessory after the Fact, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. Moreno was booked into the Humboldt County Jail to await an initial court appearance.

Officials with the Sheriff’s Office says there is no immediate concerns to the safety of residents in the area, but they remind citizens to be vigilant, lock all vehicles and residences, and call Law Enforcement officials if they see or know the whereabouts of Nathan Nickless.

Back in July, Nickless led Law Enforcement on a chase after he was spotted in Pocahontas, and eventually escaped by running into a farm field south of Rolfe. He is wanted on drug and weapons charges by both state and federal officials.
