–An Algona man is facing a felony charge following an alleged incident late last week.
According to the Algona Police Department, Officers responded to the Rose Garden Villa apartments around 12:15 PM Thursday, and after a brief investigation, arrested 39-year-old Christopher Russell Schrader.
Schrader is being charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air/Blood Flow causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony. Schrader is also facing a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
A criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court states that Schrader was involved in an altercation with his live-in girlfriend during the late-night hours of October 2nd. The complaint states that during the altercation, Schrader placed his forearm across the female’s throat and covered her mouth with his hand so she couldn’t breathe.
Schrader was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online court records show he is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on Monday, October 14th.
Court records also show a no contact order has been issued to prevent Schrader from having any contact with the alleged victim in the case.
