–The City of Algona will host an informational meeting next week to discuss the new sanitary sewer inspection program. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden tells KLGA News the city is conducting the inspections to find the cause of recent sewer backups in parts of the community.
Tjaden says they are partnering with WHKS & Company to conduct the sewer inspections over the next year.
The city is covering the cost of the inspections as they establish how many of these hookups exist. Tjaden says the inspection itself takes less than an hour, and homes that need to be inspected this fall should have received notification in the mail with information on how to schedule an appointment.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 PM on Tuesday, October 15th in conference room A at the Algona Public Library. This meeting is specifically for the homeowners who will be having inspections this fall, as other meetings will be held next year when other areas of town will be inspected. Once they figure out how many of these connections there are, they will begin to look at a cost-sharing arrangement as work will need to be done to remove them.
