–The USDA announced Tuesday they will be providing just over $2 Million in funding for five projects across Iowa to expand clean energy systems and new market opportunities for farmers. Theresa Greenfield serves as the USDA’s Rural Development State Director in Iowa, and she announced the funding through the agency’s Rural Energy for America, better known as the REAP program.

One of the five projects receiving this funding in Iowa is aimed at Kossuth and the surrounding counties. Grow Ag Investments LLP is a real estate holding company based out of Alden. They will be receiving just over $327,000 to assist with the installation of solar arrays for hog production operations in Kossuth, Palo Alto, Emmet, Hancock and Pocahontas counties. The project is expected to generate close to $50,000 in gross income from the sale of energy and generate nearly 400,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year, which is enough to power 36 homes. Nationwide, 654 projects will receive over $126 Million in funding to promote clean energy.
