–Both drivers were cited following a 2-vehicle collision near Smith Lake early Tuesday morning.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Eugene Loebach of Burt was traveling westbound on County Road B30 in a 2014 Chrysler LX just before 6AM. The accident report states the Loebach stopped at the intersection with US Highway 169 near Smith Lake, but did not see a northbound 2011 GMC Acadia, driven by Osman Mendez Ramirez of Waterloo.
Loebach proceeded into the intersection and was hit on the rear side by the northbound vehicle.
No injuries were reported; however Loebach was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way and Mendez Ramirez was cited for Driving without a Valid License and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.
Damage to Loebach’s Chrysler was estimated at $8,000 while damage to the Mendez Ramirez vehicle was valued at $10,000.
