–The Kossuth County Community Foundation will host a workshop for nonprofit organizations to discuss planned giving strategies next week in Algona. Terry Gaumer serves as the Affiliate Charitable Impact Director for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, and she will lead the sessions on Tuesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 13th. Gaumer tells KLGA News that many non-profits may not think about how legacy giving can benefit their organization.

The workshops will be held inside the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Gaumer says they are geared towards those who lead local non-profit agencies in the area.

Gaumer says many non-profits miss out on receiving a legacy gift because they’re afraid to discuss them with their donors.

Along with the obvious benefits a legacy gift can have for the non-profit agency, Gaumer says they can also provide a tax benefit for the donor.

The workshops will be held from 5:30-7 PM on Tuesday, November 12th and from 12-1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 13th inside the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center at the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. A free meal will be provided for attendees at each session. To register, you can go online www.cfneia.org/news/events/kossuth-nonprofit-event24 which can be found at www.kossuthccf.org.
