–The Kossuth County Community Foundation handed out over $176,000 in grants Wednesday to non-profit and governmental bodies who serve and assist area residents. Julie Murphy serves as chair of the KCCF Board, and she spoke with KLGA News following the awards ceremony.
The awards are handed out in areas such as: Arts and Culture, Community Betterment, Education and Youth Development, Environment and Animal Welfare, Health, and Human Services. Murphy says they are looking to support projects that will give these agencies the chance to serve Kossuth County residents in a better way.

–Community and Culture Connections–$28,203 for a Multi-Cultural Connections Center
–Kossuth County Ag & Motorsports Museum–$7,500 for Tables and Chairs in a new addition
–Kossuth County Concert Association–$5,000 for the Kossuth County Concert Series
–Kossuth County Historical Society–$5,470 for museum exterior painting
Community Betterment
–City of Fenton–$1,515 for library safety and accessibility
–City of Ledyard–$24,000 for the Fire Department to purchase a pumper truck
–City of Swea City–$10,000 for a library door replacement
–City of Titonka–$1,998 for swimming pool safety
–City of Titonka–$11,520 for fire department extrication equipment
–Iowa Underwater Search and Rescue Inc–$2,500 for an equipment upgrade
–Lone Rock Fire Protection Association–$13,235 for new bunker gear
–Swea City Improvement League–$8,000 for the parks & recreation committee to purchase playground equipment
Education & Youth Development
–Algona Family YMCA–$12,000 for renovation of the lobby and multi-purpose room
–Bancroft Daycare–$3,000 for learning curriculum
–Iowa College Access Network–$2,000 for empowering futures for economic growth
Environment and Animal Welfare
–Kossuth County Tails of Hope Rescue–$2,610 for feline trap-neuter-return program
Health
–Active Seniors of Algona–$4,000 for epoxy floor system in the south room
–Kossuth County Auditor–$5,486 for EMS Ambulance Equipment
Human Service
–Elderbridge Agency on Aging–$5,000 for Client Assistance
–Triada Chicago–$23,300 for a Nourish on Wheels program
