–Emmetsburg Community Schools are launching a Virtual Academy this fall as a way to engage with students who have been leaving the district. Superintendent Cory Jenness tells KLGA News how the idea of launching a Virtual Academy started.

The Virtual Academy would be used to serve a student population that is in danger of not receiving their diploma.

Administrators discussed the idea with students currently involved in their alternative learning programs.

Jenness says while they are currently gaging interest in the program, they want to start things off slowly.

Right now, Jenness says the Virtual Academy will be staffed by their High School Principal, Counselor and another staff member.

An informational form has been posted on the Emmetsburg Schools Facebook page for anyone who may be interested in the Virtual Academy. If you have questions, you can contact the Emmetsburg Community School District by calling 712-852-3201.
