–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors has received a development proposal from Don Tietz to provide funding for work at the fairgrounds. Board Chairman Carter Nath shared a letter the board received from Tietz outlining the multi-million-dollar proposal.
In return, Tietz is asking for similar financial commitments from the supervisors.
The Kossuth County Fair Board has been raising money to replace the grandstand and make other improvements around the fairgrounds. Fair Board President Scott Schultze informed the Supervisors Wednesday that work on a new concession area and restrooms will begin soon, with completion expected before races begin next spring. Tietz is asking that each side keep things moving so work can begin as soon as possible.
The board did not make any decisions Wednesday. They did agree that some clarification is needed as to where these funds could be used before any financial commitments are made, and they will discuss the matter further at future meetings.
