–The Algona Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees approved an increase in water rates for residential and business customers during their meeting on Wednesday. AMU General Manager John Bilsten says these rates will be reflected on the bills that go out at the end of March.
The increased rates will help cover the costs of recent improvements made to the utility’s water distribution system.
Another recent infrastructure project involved the construction of two retention ponds to naturally process the backwash that is produced when they clean filters out at the water plant each day.
Anyone with questions about the new water rates can contact AMU by calling 515-295-3584.
