An Algona man received a suspended prison sentence this week after he was charged with multiple counts of credit card fraud in Cerro Gordo County last year.
A criminal complaint filed in Cerro Gordo County District Court accused 34-year-old Danisbel Delgado Horta and 31-year-old Norays Abreu Perera of using forged and stolen credit card information to make multiple purchases in Clear Lake between May 18th and May 30th of last year.
Both were charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Delgado Horta was also charged with six counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and one count of forgery, while Abreu Perera was also charged with five counts of unauthorized use of credit cards.
As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Delgado Horta pleaded guilty to three of the unauthorized use of credit card charges, with all other charges being dismissed.
District Judge Gregg Rosenbladt this week sentenced Delgado Horta to suspended two-year prison sentences on each charge and placed him on probation for three years. Abreu Perera is scheduled to be tried on April 21st.
The pair is still set to face similar charges in Kossuth County from incidents during this same time period.
