–One of the five candidates seeking the Iowa Republican party’s nomination for governor in next week’s primary election made a campaign stop in Algona Friday afternoon. Adam Steen worked in the private sector before Governor Kim Reynolds appointed him to serve as Director for the Iowa Department of Administrative Services in 2021, a role he says prepared him to hit the ground running as Governor.
Steen met with supporters over the noon-hour Friday at the IHOP restaurant in Algona, where he asked for their vote on June 2nd, saying he’s the best candidate to face Democrat Rob Sand in November’s general election.
The Algona stop was part of a 13-day blitz around the state ahead of the June 2nd primary, where Steen is touting his plans for improving education.
Steen also asked those in attendance for their financial support during the campaign’s final days. Fundraising reports released last week showed Steen trailing Congressman Randy Feenstra and Businessman Zach Lahn in the Republican race, while Sand had outraised each of the GOP candidates this year.
