–A Whittemore man who failed to appear at multiple court hearings for allegedly passing a stopped school bus in March was taken into custody last week after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted a warrant check Friday afternoon and located 35-year-old Clinton Bernard Levis in Whittemore.
Court records show that Levis was cited for passing a stopped school bus along County Road B40 back on March 9th and given a summons to appear in court on April 22nd. That hearing was then continued until May 27th, at which time Levis failed to appear.
District Court Judge Jennifer Bennett then scheduled a June 10th court date, giving Levis one last chance to appear before an arrest warrant would be issued. Court records show that Levis failed to appear at the hearing last week, and the arrest warrant was then issued.
For passing a stopped school bus, Levis could face a $350 fine, 30 days in jail, and a 30-day suspension of his driver’s license.
