–Senator Chuck Grassley made a stop in Algona Tuesday afternoon, part of his annual 99-county tour. Grassley spoke with workers at Snap-On for about an hour, answering questions and discussing a wide range of topics. Grassley spoke with KLGA News following his stop, and says immigration is a topic he is hearing a lot about across the state, especially with so many companies looking for workers.
The recent US Supreme Court ruling that upheld California’s Proposition 12 has caused quite a stir across Iowa, as it would force many pork producers to alter their operations to be able to sell their products in that state. Grassley says this is an issue that the Senate will be discussing in the near future.
Grassley says as soon as the budget issues are resolved between the Biden administration and GOP leaders in the House, they can start work on the new farm bill. He says farmers across Iowa have given him their input on what needs to be included.
Grassley made his stop in Algona Tuesday, after holding meetings in Clarion, Garner and Forest City earlier in the day, as the 89-year-old Senator will be stopping in 13 counties this week.
