–A Northwest Iowa man was convicted on multiple charges of sexual abuse following a three-day trial in Palo Alto County this week.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Jessy Demoss of Ida Grove was found guilty on 3 counts of 2nd degree Sexual Abuse, a Class B Felony, and one count of Lascivious Acts with a Child, a Class C Felony. The trial began on Tuesday in Palo Alto County District court, with the jury reaching a verdict on Thursday.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office that began all the way back in January of 2017 and concluded in September of 2023.
Demoss was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail as he awaits a sentencing hearing, which has not been set at this time.
Second degree Sexual Abuse is punishable by up to 25-years in prison while the Lascivious Acts charge carries a sentence of up to 10-years in prison with a possible fine of up to $13,000.
