–The recent rain and cooler weather across the area has ended the burn ban that had been in effect across Kossuth County for the last two weeks.
Kossuth County Emergency Management Coordinator Charissa Mueller issued a statement saying the ban had been lifted as of 2 PM Thursday. The ban was first implemented back on October 17th.
Kossuth wasn’t the only county ending its burn ban on Thursday, as both Humboldt and Emmet counties have now lifted their restrictions.
Even with the recent precipitation, 40 counties across Iowa still have a burn ban in place as of Thursday afternoon, including Palo Alto and Wright.
You can see an up to date list of counties that still have burn bans in place by going to www.dps.iowa.gov and going to the State Fire Marshal’s page under the Division’s tab.
