–A Whittemore man was uninjured when his truck left the roadway and flipped along US Highway18 early Wednesday morning.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Hunter Lee Buhs of Whittemore was westbound on Highway 18 just after 2:15 AM Wednesday in a 2006 Ford F150 truck. The accident report states that Buhs decided to accelerate after being passed by a semi, and lost control just east of the intersection with Iowa Highway 15 due to icy road conditions.

Buhs’ truck went sideways, sliding into the south ditch where it hit a snowbank and flipped, landing on the driver’s side. He did not report any injuries, as the report states he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Damage to his truck was estimated at $5,000, while damage to a sign owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation was estimated at $200.
