–Officials with the National Weather Service confirmed that 23 tornadoes touched down across Iowa Sunday night, including three in Kossuth County. A report released Wednesday afternoon shows tornadoes near Whittemore, Lone Rock, and Wesley all formed between 9-10 PM Sunday.
The NWS report classified the Whittemore tornado as an EF0 with a maximum width of 25 yards. This tornado was on the ground for less than two minutes with winds of 85 MPH, and traveled approximately 1.6 miles, starting near the intersection of 20th Avenue and 210th Street at 9:17 PM, and moving NE until it dissipated near HWY 18.

The Lone Rock tornado touched down around 9:29 PM south of 310th Street and traveled NE for 0.7 miles. Rated as an EF1 with wind speeds around 100 MPH, the tornado had a maximum width of 30 yards and dissipated after striking the south side of town.

The tornado near Wesley touched down 3 miles north of town near the intersection of 240th Avenue and 260th Street around 9:44 PM. This tornado was also rated EF1 with peak winds of 95 MPH, and was on the ground for nearly 7 minutes, traveling over 10 miles to the northeast through Hancock County before is dissipated 3 miles east of Woden.

Three tornadoes were confirmed in Palo Alto County, with an EF1 traveling along the west side of Mallard, an EF0 starting near the Field of Dreams sports complex in Emmetsburg, that moved northeast through town, and another EF0 that moved through the southern and eastern parts of Graettinger.
An EF1 tornado was also reported in northern Pocahontas County, impacting the southern edge of Plover.
Governor Kim Reynolds has issued disaster declarations for Emmet, Hancock, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Winnebago, Woodbury, and Worth Counties this week.
