–Candidates for Kossuth County Board of Supervisors and Iowa State Senate took part in a public forum Thursday evening at the Algona Public Library, answering questions on a variety of topics. The three people seeking the District #1 Supervisor seat all say they would support a moratorium on data center construction in order to craft a permanent ordinance. Mike Genrich says both steps should be taken as soon as possible.

Laney Mitchell says a moratorium would give everyone time to take a breath.

Lara Cram says there are questions regarding data centers that need to be answered before they start popping up around the area.

The supervisor candidates were joined by Rachel Gravert of Estherville, who is running for the Iowa Senate seat in District #5, which includes Kossuth County. Gravert launched her campaign as a independent in June. She will go up against incumbent Dave Rowley, a Republican from Spirit Lake, who was unable to attend last night’s event. Some of the local candidates in uncontested races were in attendance but did not participate in the forum. You can catch the entire debate on the Algona Radio YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmhtqwYOLgo&t=3973s
