–The Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge will open it’s Auto Tour route this weekend, in celebration of National Migratory Bird Day. Refuge Manager Ed Meendering tells KLGA News that conditions are favorable to see plenty of wildlife if you take a trip through the tour route.
Meendering says you can see some wildlife along the tour route that are returning to the area, including Sandhill Cranes.
If you’re interested in seeing wildlife along the tour route, certain times of day will be better, and Meendering says they have some items that will help your search.
The tour route will be open sunrise to sunset May 5th through the 14th, and begins at the Refuge headquarters, located about 6 miles east of Bancroft along County Road A42.
