–Kossuth County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark McGregor and K9 Officer Pedro recently returned from the Dogs for Law Enforcement Conference in Eastern Iowa, where they earned multiple awards.
The K9’s are put through certification on aggression and apprehension while under control of the Officers. They recertify in building searches, narcotics detection, tracking abilities, article recovery, and obedience.
McGregor and Pedro finished 2nd in the Patrol Dog competition and 3rd in narcotics detection amongst over 60 K9’s. The duo also took home the “Top Dog” award in the competition.
All K9’s and their handlers are required to recertify on an annual basis. The DLE Conference was held May 1-5 in Independence, Iowa.
