The search is underway for a new economic development director, as Maureen Elbert is planning to retire from the Kossuth and Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation. According to a press release, Elbert announced her plans to retire from her position with Kossuth and Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation (K/PACEDC) last year and anticipates retirement in 2024.  The board has been preparing for the upcoming transition for more than 18 months, and the search has officially begun to seek out a new executive director to lead the region into the future.

Currently Elbert serves on the Institute for Decision Making’s Advisory Council, State Advisory Board of America’s Small Business Development Center of Iowa, the North Iowa Area Council of Governments board, and Revolving Loan Fund Commission for both Kossuth County and Palo Alto County, in addition to numerous other commitments. In 2022, Elbert was honored with the Rural Leadership Award from the Iowa Rural Development Council.

As the K/PACEDC board continues to work through Elbert’s succession plan, they have opened the job search and have started seeking qualified candidates for the position of executive director. To learn more about the K/PACEDC call 515-295-7979 or visit www.kossuth-edc.com or www.paloaltoiowa.com
